Amidst the rolling hills overlooking the Tuscan countryside, the collaboration between artist Kinga Földi and curator Pınar Goodstone began to take shape at the La Macina de San Cresci Art Residency. After graduating from Moholy Nagy University of Art and Design as a woven textile designer in 2006, Kinga's love for crafts drew her towards exploring the realm of textile art. Along her creative path, Kinga delved into bobbin lace making, origami, and other surface-manipulating techniques, ultimately paving the way for her remarkable silk sculptures.

Kinga Földi's artistic process is as mesmerizing as the story of silk. The technique she employs, known as pin-tuck, adds a layer of intricacy and depth to her sculptures. Through meticulous folding and sewing of fabric, a rhythmic striped surface emerges, which serves as the foundation for her sculptures. Kinga Földi's collection embodies a profound appreciation for the transformative power of nature. From delicate garlic bulbs to whimsical mushrooms and elegant lotus flowers, each sculpture serves as a testament to Földi's ability to capture the essence of the natural world in her art. Földi seeks to celebrate the intricate beauty and diversity of the natural world, inviting viewers to marvel at its complexity and wonder.

The brooches, adorned with symbols deeply rooted in cultural significance, offer a unique and personal connection to Földi's art. Red Poppy Flowers, symbolizing remembrance and hope for a peaceful future, resonate deeply in today's world as humanity yearns for tranquility amidst turmoil. In Turkey, where recent elections have ushered in a wave of optimism, these brooches carry special significance, embodying the nation's collective hope for a brighter tomorrow. Ginkgo brooches, with their symbolism of resilience, healing, and longevity, serve as potent reminders of the human spirit's capacity to overcome adversity and thrive. Turquoise and golden dragon brooches, steeped in Oriental symbolism, evoke notions of supernatural power, wisdom, and hidden knowledge.

As visitors wander through the exhibition, they are transported to a world where art and nature intertwine, inviting contemplation and reflection. In Földi's hands, silk becomes a canvas upon which the wonders of the natural world are immortalized, offering a moment of respite and a chance to reconnect with the beauty that surrounds them.
